Department of Education to Begin Federal Student Loan Collections

On Monday, April 21, the U.S. Department of Education announced that the Office of Federal Student Aid (FSA) will resume collections on its defaulted federal student loan portfolio beginning Monday, May 5. This includes restarting the Treasury Offset Program and authorizing guaranty agencies to begin involuntary collection efforts for certain types of loans. Borrowers with loans in default will be notified via email about these changes. The Department has also launched a dedicated web page offering guidance and resources for managing defaulted loans.

CSU does not directly participate in federal student loan repayment.
