Scholarships below are for transfer students admitted to a degree-seeking program on CSU’s main campus in Fort Collins.

  • All scholarships will only be for fall and spring semesters; unless otherwise noted.  If a student starts in the summer the scholarship still cannot be used until fall semester.
  • Students must be degree-seeking through CSU’s main campus. CSU Online students are not eligible for these scholarships.

Scholarships Awarded Based on the Application for Admission

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

Scholarship Amount

A total of $18,000 ($6,000 per academic year) for non-residents and $6,000 ($2,000 per year) for residents will be awarded to students transferring to Colorado State University to pursue a first bachelor’s degree.

Eligibility

All transfer students who submit a complete application for admission by June 1 for fall and November 1 for spring and meet the criteria will be considered for the award. Applicants must have been a member of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) for at least one full academic term prior to the semester they would attend CSU, and submit proof of membership to The Office of Admissions by June 1 for fall and November 1 for spring. No separate scholarship application required, though students need to check the PTK box on the Admissions application.

Note: Students cannot receive the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship with the Ram Transfer Scholarship, the Native American Legacy Award, Yellow Ribbon, GI Promise, HB 15-1294 GI Benefits or WUE Transfer Award.

Renewal Criteria

Students must maintain 3.0 GPA and Satisfactory Academic Progress. These students may receive this award for up to a total of six (6) semesters, or until their degree is complete, whichever comes first.

Honors Transfer Scholarship

Scholarship Amount

A total of $3,000 ($1,000 per academic year) may be awarded to resident or non-resident students who transfer to Colorado State University to pursue a first bachelor’s degree.

Eligibility

Students must be admitted to, and participate in, the Honors Program to be considered for this scholarship. There are a limited number of scholarships available in this competitive pool. To be considered for this scholarship, transfer students must submit a complete application for admission by June 1. The Honors Transfer Scholarship is only offered for Fall start students. Renewal Criteria

Students must maintain 3.0 GPA and Satisfactory Academic Progress, and be participating in the Honors Program. These students may receive this award for up to a total of six (6) semesters, or until their degree is complete, whichever comes first.

Ram Transfer Scholarship

Scholarship Amount

A total of $15,000 ($5,000 per academic year) for non-residents and $3,000 ($1,000 per year) for residents may be awarded to students transferring to Colorado State University to pursue a first bachelor’s degree. There are a limited number of scholarships available in this competitive pool.

How to Apply

We only need your application for admission to CSU. No separate application needed.

Eligibility

To be considered you must:

  • Demonstrate outstanding academic achievement
  • Transfer in a minimum of 30 credits
  • Have a 3.00 transfer GPA
  • Submit a complete application for admission BY
    • February 1 (for full consideration) or June 1 (for limited consideration) for fall semester
    • November 1 for spring semester consideration

Note: Students cannot receive the Ram Transfer Scholarship with the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship, the Native American Legacy Award, Yellow Ribbon, GI Promise, HB 15-1294 GI Benefits or WUE Transfer  Award.

Partnership Award

A total of $20,000 ($4,000 per year up to 5 years) will be awarded to students who graduated from an Alliance high school in spring 2007 or after. Students must have enrolled in a Colorado public community/junior college after graduation from an Alliance high school, within nine months of high school graduation, prior to enrollment at CSU, and have not attended a four year college or university. Must submit a complete application for admission by June 1.

Eligible students, who are offered an award, will need to accept their award on RAMweb (Financial Aid section).

Students involved with more than one organization will receive only one Partnership award.

Note: Students cannot receive the Partnership Award with the First Generation Award. If a student is offered one of these scholarships and qualifies for a higher award, the lower valued award will be canceled.

The Partnership Award is $2,500 per year for a maximum of ten consecutive fall/spring semesters or until graduation, whichever comes first. It will be awarded to Colorado residents transferring from a Colorado two-year, or community college institution, that have successfully participated with a TRIO – Student Support Services (SSS) program for one year prior to their enrollment at CSU and meet the award requirements. Students will be required to apply for, participate in, and receive services from CSU’s Community for Excellence and the Academic Advancement Center (AAC/TRIO).

To be considered:

  • Students must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.
  • Students must be classified as a Colorado resident.
  • Students must submit a complete CSU transfer admission application for a fall or spring semester, then be admitted and enroll at CSU for the fall or spring semester as a first-time entering transfer student.
  • SSS programs will submit documentation for each of their eligible students who have applied to CSU, prior to the start of the student’s first semester at CSU.
  • It is recommended SSS programs submit documentation and students apply for admission to CSU by June 1st for fall semester or November 1st for spring semester, after these dates applications are considered on a rolling basis and students will also need to meet the CSU AAC application dates listed below.
  • Student must submit a complete application for AAC participation by July 15th for Fall enrollment or December 31st for Spring enrollment. After those dates students may be considered on a space-available basis, by exception. The AAC application can be found online at aac.colostate.edu.

Students may be involved with more than one organization but will receive only one Partnership Award.

    • Lorenzo de Zaveala Youth Legislative Session (LDZ)
  • Be admitted to full-time degree seeking program on Colorado State University’s main campus for the fall term. CSU Online students are not eligible.
  • Students who have been involved with more than one organization but will receive only one Partnership Award.

Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Transfer Award

What is WUE?

If you are not a resident of Colorado but live in the western United States or in select jurisdictions of the U.S. Pacific islands, you may be eligible for a significant reduction in tuition through the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) award. If your GPA makes you eligible for the highest Green and Gold award, you will be awarded the higher scholarship option. In some cases, your scholarship awards may be higher than WUE.

Transfer Student Eligibility

To be considered you must:

  • Be seeking a degree through CSU’s main campus (not CSU Online) AND
  • Be a resident of a WUE-eligible state or territory AND
  • Submit a complete application for admission and be admitted BY
    • June 1 for fall semester
    • November 1 for spring semester
    • If a student starts classes in summer, the scholarship can’t be used until fall semester.
  • Have a cumulative college GPA of a 3.0 or over with at least one semester of college completed
  • Transfer to CSU with at least 15 college-level credits

Note: Students cannot receive the WUE Transfer award with the Phi Theta Kappa or Ram Transfer Scholarships, or the Native American Legacy Award, GI Promise, HB 15-1294 GI Benefits or Yellow Ribbon programs; if awarded, the award that benefits the student the most will remain and the others will be canceled.

Renewal Criteria

Students must maintain 3.0 GPA and Satisfactory Academic Progress. WUE transfer scholars who meet the selection and renewal criteria can receive this award for up to a total of six (6) consecutive fall and spring semesters, or until their degree is complete, whichever comes first.

Native American Legacy Award (NALA)


This award reduces non-resident tuition (for any semester), to Colorado resident base tuition plus $250/semester, for qualified non-resident transfer students who are transferring from tribal colleges, are citizens of a federally recognized tribe, and have at least 30 transferable credits.

  • It cannot be combined with the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE), Yellow Ribbon Award, GI Promise, HB 15-1294 GI Benefits, or other non-resident institutional scholarships.
  • All University scholarships are for regular on-campus credits.

Scholarships Awarded After Admission, Based on the CSUSA

Bernard Osher Reentry Scholarship


Minimum requirements are:

  • Ideally between 25 and 50 years old
  • Working towards first bachelor’s degree (regular on-campus degree program; not online degree program)
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75 for all college credits taken
  • Minimum of 60 credits towards degree major
  • At least 5 years cumulative gap in college enrollment
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Anticipate workforce participation of at least 10+ years following graduation

The Osher Re-Entry Scholarship is applied for via the CSU Scholarship Application (CSUSA).

Reisher Scholarship for Transfer Students


The Reisher Scholars Program awards scholarships to Colorado students based upon demonstrated financial need and academic merit. Transfer candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Be a Colorado resident.
  • Be a “junior” with 54-75 transferable credits (towards your major) from a junior or community college by Fall 2019.
  • Plan to enroll as a full-time student at CSU through graduation.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher at by the end of the spring 2017 semester and in subsequent semesters.
  • Demonstrate specific financial need as determined by FAFSA results and Office of Financial Aid including an EFC <$9,000
  • Expected to graduate within two years (spring 2021) of receiving the Reisher Scholarship.
